A ruined 17th-century fort town in the Aravallis, reputedly Rajasthan's most haunted site, with temples and bazaar ruins.
Bhangarh is a ruined fort and town built in the 17th century and abandoned in the 18th, set at the edge of Sariska Tiger Reserve. Local legend calls it haunted, and the ASI forbids entry between sunset and sunrise. The complex includes temples, a palace, a bazaar and a gateway; the Gopinath and Someshwar temples are best preserved. Entry fees are modest. Because the site is in a semi-wild area, visitors keep to daylight hours. The nearby Ajabgarh fort is a short drive.
