Natural spring-fed tanks in a gorge of the Aravallis; these are sacred pools used for ritual bathing and are not a leisure swimming spot.
The Galta Ji tanks are spring-fed pools within a pink-sandstone temple complex east of Jaipur's old city. They are used for ritual bathing and are home to a troop of rhesus macaques, so they are not a swimming spot for visitors. The complex has temples, pavilions and a stairway to Surya Mandir. Entry is largely free. Visitors dress modestly and avoid carrying food because of the monkeys.
