Teen Darwaza and Bhadra Fort

  • Best time6:30-8:30AM, before vendors and traffic set up
  • LightingSoft, low, warm light on the arches at dawn; strong contrast by mid-morning
  • Best seasonOctober to March

Teen Darwaza is a triple-arched gate, a monument of national importance, that stood at the entrance to the royal square beside Bhadra Fort in the old city. The three arches carved with lattice and floral details frame a busy road that fills with vendors, rickshaws and pedestrians by mid-morning, so early hours are needed for clean architectural frames. Bhadra Fort, built in 1411, has a courtyard and a clock tower, and the surrounding pavement market produces street pictures after sunrise.

The triple-arched ceremonial gateway near Bhadra Fort, framed by the colonial-era street market and the fort's courtyard. Best at dawn before the market fills.

Both are open air, and access to the fort courtyard is subject to opening hours. Rickshaws and scooters dominate the roads, so photographers should stay aware of traffic. The area combines architecture and street photography in a few hundred metres.
