Lingshui Spring-Fed Swimming Lake, Wuming

Lingshui Scenic Area sits in Wuming District, roughly 35-45 km north of central Nanning, and its swimming lake is fed by a natural spring rather than the sea, giving the water a distinctive clarity and a near-constant temperature of about 22C year-round. The lakebed is sandy in the designated swimming sections, with clear, continually replenished spring water rather than the murkier river water typical of the region; the lake is compact and enclosed by grassland and low hills rather than open or exposed to strong wind, so conditions stay calm. Designated swimming zones are roped off from the deeper, unmanaged parts of the lake, and the setting draws a mixed crowd - local families escaping the summer heat, groups of friends, and day-trippers from Nanning - rather than a party scene. Amenities at the scenic-area entrance include changing rooms and lockers, and food stalls and small restaurants operate nearby in the town of Wuming; shade comes mainly from the grassland edges rather than built structures, so a sun umbrella or hat is worth carrying in the middle of the day. There is no confirmed lifeguard service at the site, so swimmers should keep to the marked areas and supervise children closely. Reaching Lingshui from Nanning takes about an hour by road: visitors can take an intercity bus to Wuming and continue by local taxi, or arrange a direct taxi or ride-hailing car from the city, since there is no rail connection to the scenic area itself. Because the spring never runs dry and holds its temperature through the seasons, the lake is swimmable even outside the hottest months, though May to October is when the warm air makes the cool water most refreshing; midweek visits avoid the crowds that gather on summer weekends.
