The Parque de las Ciencias is an interactive science museum on the south side of Granada, in Andalusia, and the city's best-known family attraction. Opened in 1995, it covers about 70,000 square metres and includes indoor exhibition halls, an outdoor garden with hands-on experiments, a butterfly house, a planetarium and a bird-of-prey show. The halls cover topics such as the human body, Al-Andalus science, optics, and the Earth. The Biosphere pavilion explores life on land and in water, and the Observatory has a Foucault pendulum. Some activities require a separate ticket, and the planetarium runs timed sessions. The park suits families with children and adults interested in science, and a full visit takes three to four hours. It sits on Avenida de la Ciencia, close to the Palacio de Congresos, and it is outside the old town, so the bus or a taxi is the best way to reach it.
