Sukkur Lansdowne Bridge and Sadhu Bela Island Walk

The walk begins on the Sukkur riverbank near the Lansdowne Bridge, within Sukkur city in Sukkur District, Sindh, and is easily reached on foot or by local rickshaw from anywhere in central Sukkur; no special transport is needed. From the riverbank, walkers follow about 2km of flat riverside path with views of the 1889 Lansdowne cantilever bridge and the newer Ayub Bridge alongside it, before boarding a short local boat that ferries visitors across the Indus to Sadhu Bela island. The path along the riverbank is paved or packed earth with essentially no elevation change and no technical difficulty, while the boat crossing takes only a few minutes. On Sadhu Bela island, the walk continues up a short flight of internal temple steps to the Hindu temple complex, the only notable climb on the route. Landmarks include the Lansdowne Bridge itself, a 19th-century engineering landmark, the riverside ghats used by the local boat operators, and the Sadhu Bela temple with its riverside pavilions; the walk typically ends back at the mainland ghat after the return boat crossing. There is no shade along most of the riverside stretch, though the temple island has some covered areas, and there are no formal refuges along the route, so hikers should carry water for the outing.
