Kirthar National Park Hill Trails

Kirthar National Park spans a large stretch of the Kirthar Range in Jamshoro District, Sindh, and is reached by private 4x4 from Karachi or the nearby town of Nooriabad; there is no public transport within the park itself, and a park entry permit is required at the Karchat or Khar entrance gates. From either entrance, rangers or local guides lead informal walks of 3-8km along unmarked tracks that wind through the park's arid limestone hills, with several hundred metres of local relief as the routes climb low ridgelines and drop into dry watercourses. The terrain underfoot is rocky and uneven, alternating between hard-packed limestone scree and dry stream beds, with almost no shade across the open hill country. Walkers pass through habitat for Sindh ibex, urial wild sheep, and chinkara gazelle, and the park's limestone outcrops offer wide views over the surrounding Kirthar foothills; many visitors turn around after 3-4km at a ridge viewpoint before the terrain becomes steeper and less defined. There are no huts, refuges, or reliable water sources along the informal tracks, and the nearest facilities are at the park entrance gates, so hikers need to carry all water and supplies for the full outing.
