Yumigahama Peninsula Cycling Road

The Yumigahama Peninsula cycling road is a dedicated, roughly 20 km one-way path running along the Sea of Japan shoreline between Yonago and Sakaiminato in Tottori Prefecture, separate from vehicle traffic for most of its length. Rental bicycles, including standard and electric-assist models, are available from terminals at JR Yonago Station and JR Sakaiminato Station, allowing one-way rides that finish at a different station from where the bike was picked up. The route is flat and paved, requiring no technical cycling skill, though the full one-way distance takes a reasonable level of fitness to complete comfortably in a half-day; those wanting a shorter outing can turn back partway or use an electric-assist bike to cut down on effort. No operator-led tours or guides are involved, since this is a self-directed ride along a marked public cycling path rather than a guided excursion, and there is no formal safety briefing beyond normal road-cycling caution; the peninsula is exposed to sea winds, and cyclists should be prepared for a slower return if riding against the wind. Helmets are available on request from the rental terminals but are not mandatory. The path is rideable March through November, with April–May and October–November offering the most comfortable temperatures and the clearest views of Mount Daisen across the bay, while summer heat and winter winds make the ride more demanding.
