The Adolf Munkel Trail (Adolf-Munkel-Weg) runs along the foot of the Geisler (Odle) peaks in the Puez-Odle Nature Park above Val di Funes in Alto Adige, one of the most beautiful and approachable walks in the Dolomites. The classic loop is roughly 9 kilometres with around 450 metres of climbing, starting and finishing at the Zannes (Zans) car park at the head of Val di Funes, reached by car or summer bus with paid parking.

A classic walk along the very base of the Geisler/Odle peaks, running beneath their sheer northern walls through forest, meadow and past welcoming refuges. The Adolf Munkel Trail is among the most beautiful and accessible hikes in the Puez-Odle park, with the spires towering directly overhead.

From Zannes the path climbs gently through spruce forest and wildflower meadow to the base of the Odle's sheer northern walls, then traverses directly beneath the spires, which soar dramatically overhead in one of the great close-up rock spectacles of the range. The terrain is mostly clear forest and meadow path with some roots and rock underfoot but no scrambling or exposure, making it suitable for most active walkers and families. Two welcoming refuges, the Geisleralm and the Gschnagenhardt hut, sit along the route and serve South Tyrolean mountain food, so a relaxed lunch is easy to build in. The walk also offers views back down the valley toward the much-photographed church of Santa Maddalena set against the peaks. The nature park is well signed and protected, and the loop returns through forest to Zannes. The season runs from late May to mid-October, with early summer bringing carpets of wildflowers and late September the golden larch colour the region is known for. Because the trail sits at the foot of the cliffs rather than on an exposed ridge, it is more sheltered than many Dolomite routes, though a rain layer is sensible given the quick mountain weather. With its intimate views of the Odle, easy refuge food and gentle terrain, the Adolf Munkel Trail is a perfect first taste of walking in the Puez-Odle park.
