A lakeside garden on Lake Wuli, linked to the legend of Fan Li and Xi Shi, with covered corridors and bridges.
Liyuan sits on the shore of Lake Wuli, the inner lake of Taihu, and takes its name from Fan Li, a Spring and Autumn period minister said to have retired there. The garden was expanded in the 1920s and 1930s and has pavilions, a long covered corridor with carved windows and a lake promenade.
It is a gentle garden walk that pairs well with Yuantouzhu, which is a few kilometres away.
