Tuần Châu Beach

Tuần Châu Beach is a man-made resort beach on Tuần Châu Island in Hạ Long, Quảng Ninh Province, northern Vietnam, roughly 155 km from Hà Nội. The island is joined to the mainland by a causeway, and the beach was built as part of a resort and marina development, with imported sand laid over the natural shoreline. The sand is pale and clean by the standards of the northern coast, and the water is calm and sheltered from open-sea swell by the bay and surrounding islands. Colour ranges from green to grey-blue depending on weather and tides, and visibility is moderate. The beach is fairly short and gently curved, more of a managed resort frontage than a wild open strand, and the shallow entry suits children and casual swimmers. The atmosphere is that of an organised resort beach, more relaxed than raucous. It is popular with domestic families, tour groups and hotel guests, and it does not attract surfers or a party crowd, although hotels and restaurants on the island provide evening dining. Amenities include sunbed and umbrella rental, showers, hotels, restaurants and the Tuần Châu marina, which is a departure point for many Hạ Long Bay cruises. Lifeguards are normally posted in season, and the resort operator maintains the beach area. Access is simple for a coastal destination. Limousine vans and buses from Hà Nội to Hạ Long or Tuần Châu take about two and a half to three hours and cost around 250,000-400,000 VND. Visitors arrive over the causeway by taxi, shuttle or private vehicle, and there is parking on the island. Because the marina sits beside the beach, visitors who plan a bay cruise can combine a morning swim with a boat departure, or finish a cruise with an afternoon on the sand. Access to some resort sections may be restricted to hotel guests or ticket holders, so it is worth checking on arrival.
