Kigongoni Lodge

Kigongoni Lodge sits on a hillside directly on the boundary of Arusha National Park, about 18 km from Arusha city, positioned to catch sweeping views over the surrounding farmland and forest to Mount Meru. The lodge is small and intimate, built as eight freestanding stone-and-thatch cottages designed to sit low among the trees rather than dominate the hillside, giving it an unpolished, close-to-nature feel distinct from larger safari lodges. Cottages are simply but comfortably furnished, each with a private veranda facing the view, and connected to the main lodge by garden paths where colobus monkeys and forest birds are commonly seen. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a sundeck for daytime relaxation, and while there is no dedicated spa, the focus here is squarely on access to nature: guided walks and birding excursions depart directly from the lodge, and its position on the park boundary makes it a genuine base for game drives into Arusha National Park rather than a stop passed en route.
