Arusha Coffee Lodge

Arusha Coffee Lodge sits inside the working Burka Coffee Estate, a five-minute drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport and roughly 20 minutes from Arusha's city centre, making it a natural first or last stop on a northern-circuit safari. The lodge is split between an original section of plantation-style suites shaded by tall trees and a newer wing built two storeys high through the coffee bushes, both designed with dark timber, thatch roofing, and colonial-era styling that reflects the estate's century-old coffee-growing history. Each spacious suite has a private plunge pool, a four-poster bed draped in mosquito netting, a fireplace for cool highland evenings, and a wraparound veranda looking out over the coffee gardens toward Mount Meru. The Coffee House restaurant serves a daily-changing set menu built around estate-grown coffee, fresh produce, and Tanzanian ingredients, complemented by a well-stocked cellar and a lounge bar. There is no dedicated spa building, but in-room and garden massage treatments are available on request, alongside a swimming pool set among the plantation. Guided walks through the working coffee estate, with an explanation of the bean-to-cup process, are a signature activity, and the lodge's concierge and safari desk arrange game drives into Arusha National Park, Tarangire, and the wider northern circuit. Service is highly personalised and geared toward honeymooners and discerning leisure travellers rather than business guests, with a low guest-to-staff ratio that makes it feel more like a private estate stay than a conventional hotel.
