Do Darya, Clifton

Do Darya in DHA Phase 8, Clifton, is a purpose-built row of open-air seafood and grill restaurants strung along an artificial tidal creek, and it is one of Karachi's best-known evening dining destinations rather than a bar or club. The crowd skews toward middle- and upper-middle-class families and groups of friends in their twenties to forties, dressed casually to smart-casual; children are common in the early evening, and the venue is not alcohol-licensed, so there is no cocktail or beer programme -- drinks are fresh juices, mocktails, soft drinks, and Kashmiri or regular chai served alongside grilled seafood, karahi, and barbecue. Background music, where present, is played softly over restaurant speakers rather than as a curated programme, and the main draw is the harbor view and open-air creek-side seating with strung lights after dark. The strip is busiest from around 8PM to midnight, with weeknights noticeably quieter than Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, when tables fill and walk-in waits can stretch past thirty minutes. There is no venue-wide cover charge; each restaurant along the row charges only for food and drink, and reservations, where offered, are made directly with the individual restaurant rather than through Do Darya as a whole. Valet parking is available at most of the larger restaurants along the strip.
