Accommodation overview
Tangier's accommodation clusters in five areas. The medina and Kasbah hold atmospheric riads and guesthouses within walking distance of the Petit Socco, the Kasbah Museum and the port. The Ville Nouvelle around Avenue Mohammed VI has chain and mid-range hotels close to the beach, the station and the Grand Socco. Malabata, east along the corniche, is the resort and spa belt, 10 to 15 minutes by taxi. Marshan and the western hillsides offer villas and quiet guesthouses, while Cap Spartel and Achakkar suit travellers with a car who want cliff and forest settings. Rates run from about MAD 150 per night for a basic pension to MAD 5,000 or more for a luxury suite.
