The colonial silver-mining town climbs a steep hillside, so a car or bus is the practical way to arrive, with the last stretch into the historic center involving narrow, winding cobblestone streets. A day itinerary typically starts in the morning at Plaza Borda, the town's central square, followed by a visit to the pink-stone Santa Prisca church, whose Baroque interior and gilded altarpieces are among the town's best-known sights. From there, the morning continues with a walk through the surrounding silver market streets, where dozens of workshops and jewelry shops sell handcrafted pieces reflecting centuries of local mining tradition; the Guillermo Spratling silver museum near the plaza adds historical context for visitors with extra time. Afternoons are well suited to a longer walk uphill toward the Cristo Rey statue or the Taxco cable car (teleférico) for hillside views over the town's white-walled rooftops, before heading back down for a late lunch.
