Hakuba Cortina Hotel

Hakuba Cortina Hotel stands at the base of the Cortina ski area in Otari-mura, a mountain village in Kita-Azumi-gun approximately 95 km west of Nagano City and 15 km north of Hakuba's main resort cluster. The hotel is the only accommodation positioned directly slopeside at the Cortina area, placing guests within a short walk of gondola and chair-lift terminals that access steep, heavily-forested terrain regarded by powder skiers as among Japan's most rewarding. The building has the character of a compact European alpine lodge — a pitched roof, wood-panelled common areas, and a ground-floor bar — though its design is restrained rather than theatrical. Guest rooms range from standard twin and double configurations to small family suites, and most face the slopes rather than the car park. An in-house restaurant serves prix-fixe dinners built around seasonal local produce, Shinshu pork, and Nagano wines; breakfast is a buffet mixing Western and Japanese options. A natural hot spring bath with separate men's and women's sections is available each evening, and the steam room adjacent to the bath is available in winter. Fitness facilities are limited to a small stretching room, but the hotel organises snowshoe tours, guided off-piste sessions with certified instructors, and Nordic trail access through the ski season. In summer the hotel stays open for hiking packages and mountain-access lift rides. The concierge team includes English-speaking staff with experience in foreign-visitor logistics such as equipment rental coordination and ski-school scheduling. A shuttle connects the hotel to Itoigawa Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
