Kurama-dera
Kurama-dera is a mountain temple complex on Mt. Kurama accessed via a scenic cable car and mountain trail through ancient cedars. Founded in 770 CE, the temple is associated with the tengu, mythical mountain spirits, and was the training ground of legendary swordsman Minamoto no Yoshitsune. The area around Kurama has strong spiritual energy (ki) and the cable car ride through the forest is memorable.
