A walk up the old fort road from Amer to Jaigarh Fort, home of the Jaivana cannon, with Amer and Maota Lake below.
Jaigarh Fort stands on the ridge above Amer and is connected to the older fort by a paved hillside route and by fortified walls. Walkers can climb the road from the Amer end in about an hour, passing old ramparts and viewpoints, before entering the fort, whose Jaivana cannon is among the largest on wheels in the world. Entry is about ₹100 for Indians and ₹200 for foreigners per commonly quoted listings, with a vehicle fee for cars. The fort has a museum, an armoury and cisterns. Many walkers continue to Nahargarh along the ridge, though the path beyond Jaigarh is rougher.
