Bâtiment B is Grenoble's leading alternative club venue, located on Rue Ampère in the Championnet district close to the concentration of student bars and independent music venues that makes this area the city's most dynamic nightlife zone. The venue occupies a two-floor industrial space with good acoustics, a main dancefloor and performance area on the ground level, and a mezzanine that provides a vantage point over the crowd below. The industrial aesthetic — exposed ducting, concrete walls, and warehouse-scale ceilings — sets the visual character for the eclectic, cross-genre programme that has defined Bâtiment B since it opened. The club's programme is deliberately varied enough to attract a broad audience beyond the city's large student population from the University of Grenoble Alpes and the Grenoble INP engineering schools. An average week sees electronic music nights — including techno, house, and drum and bass — alongside hip-hop evenings, indie rock concerts, themed throwback nights, and occasional live band performances from touring acts. This cross-genre approach prevents the venue from being claimed by any single scene and is a core part of its identity within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The venue operates Thursday through Saturday from 22:00 to 05:00, with occasional mid-week events announced via social media. Cover charges are modest, reflecting the student-oriented crowd: typically €5 to €12 depending on the event, with student-rate discounts available on some nights. Bar prices are among the most accessible in Grenoble's club circuit, with shots and beers in the €4 to €6 range. The venue has a cloakroom, accessible toilets on the ground floor, and a designated smoking area.
