La Marquise

La Marquise is a permanently moored barge bar on the Rhône river in Lyon's 7th arrondissement, positioned at the Quai de la Guillotière along the left bank near the Guillotière bridge. The vessel has been converted into a multi-level bar and event space, with a covered lower deck providing year-round operations and an open-air rooftop deck that comes into use from April through October when conditions allow. From the rooftop, panoramic views sweep across the Rhône toward the Fourvière hill and its basilica — one of the most atmospheric drinking settings in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The bar is open daily from midday to 02:00, making La Marquise one of the few river bars in Lyon with such extended hours. Afternoons and early evenings draw a mixed crowd of locals and visitors taking advantage of the riverside setting for aperitif drinks; the rooftop fills quickly on warm summer evenings, often by 19:00 at the peak of the July to August season. Weekend nights have a livelier character, and the bar occasionally programmes DJ nights on the upper deck, with music ranging from electronic to indie. The drinks programme centres on cocktails, a wide selection of draught and bottled beers, and a concise wine list.
