Jiuyanqiao Jinjiang Riverside Promenade

The Jiuyanqiao Jinjiang Riverside Promenade runs along the waterfront of the Jinjiang River near the Jiuyanqiao Bridgehead in Jinjiang District, Chengdu, and functions as an urban boardwalk rather than a swimming beach. There is no sand or pebble shore here; the water's edge is lined with a paved and railed boardwalk, stone steps down to the river in places, and landscaped embankments. The river itself is not used for swimming or wading, so the appeal is entirely the waterfront walk, the bars and cafes strung along the bank, and the river cruise dock nearby. By day the promenade is a fairly quiet place for a walk or coffee with a river view; after dark it becomes one of Chengdu's liveliest nightlife strips, with bars and cafes lighting the water and short river cruise boats departing from the nearby dock. The atmosphere shifts noticeably with the hour, drawing an evening crowd for drinks and photos rather than daytime sunbathers. Amenities include seating along the boardwalk, lit walkways for evening safety, several photo viewpoints looking toward the bridge, and a cluster of bars and restaurants directly on the water. Public restrooms are available at nearby commercial buildings rather than directly on the promenade. Access is easy: Metro Line 2 to Niuwangmiao station (Exit A) or Line 6 to Sanguantang station, each followed by a 5-8 minute walk, or a roughly 10-minute taxi ride from Tianfu Square 3 km away. The boardwalk itself is flat and step-free for most of its length, though some access points from the street involve a short flight of stairs down to the water.
