Baihuatan Park sits on the southern bank of Huanhua Creek in Qingyang District, Chengdu, near the Du Fu Thatched Cottage, and centers on an ornamental lake rather than an open shoreline. There is no sand or pebble beach here; the lake edge is landscaped with stone borders, a wooden boat bridge crossing the water, and paved walking paths circling the shore. The lake is decorative and not used for swimming, so the draw is the scenery, the willow-lined paths, and the traditional pavilions dotted around the water. The setting is calm and family-oriented, popular with locals for morning walks, kite flying on the open lawns, and photographs on the boat-shaped bridge that crosses the lake. Food options are limited within the park itself, though small vendors and cafes cluster near the Du Fu Thatched Cottage entrance a short walk away. Spring brings blossoms along Huanhua Creek that draw the biggest crowds, while autumn offers cooler, quieter conditions for a slow walk around the lake. Access is via Metro Line 4 to Qingyang Palace station, followed by about a 15-minute walk or a short taxi ride; the park is roughly 6 km from Tianfu Square.
