Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge Park

Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge Park is a riverside park and heritage site in Xiaguan District, Nanjing, Jiangsu province, about 8 km northwest of the city centre. The park sits at the foot of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, a landmark road and rail crossing completed in the 1960s and a symbol of modern China. It is not a sea beach: the shoreline is a stone-paved riverside promenade beside the wide, silty Yangtze, and the water is not suitable for swimming. The main attraction is the bridge itself. A bridge tower observation platform offers views over the river and the city, and the entry ticket for the platform is paid, so the current price should be checked at the ticket gate. Bridge-history exhibits explain the construction and its place in Chinese history. The riverside promenade is open and exposed, with breezes off the water and views of passing ships, and the atmosphere is that of a heritage sightseeing stop with a mix of local families, older visitors and domestic tourists rather than a recreational beach. Toilets and small kiosks provide basic amenities, and there are no sun loungers or lifeguards. Access is by taxi or Didi from Nanjing Railway Station in about 15 minutes; bus routes vary and should be confirmed in Amap. April-June and September-October offer the most comfortable weather and clear views, while summer haze and heat can reduce visibility, and winter can be cold and windy on the tower. The park can be paired with Yanziji or Jiangxinzhou for a tour of the Yangtze waterfront within Nanjing. Visitors interested in engineering history and river views will find it rewarding, whereas those looking for swimming or sandy shores will not find them here.
