The Queen's Head English Style Pub

The Queen's Head English Style Pub has run on Jiangbei Avenue in central Nanning since 2013, beside the south gate of 303 Hospital, and remains one of the city's few dedicated Western-style pubs. The crowd is a mix of Nanning's expat residents, English-language teachers, and local regulars who come for imported beer rather than a club scene, and the atmosphere is casual and unpretentious -- there is no dress code and no strict age screening beyond standard drinking-age norms. A free pool table and screens showing live sport give the room a neighborhood-pub feel through the week, while weekends bring live music, typically local or expat cover bands playing rock and pop standards rather than DJ sets. The drinks programme is built around more than 30 imported beers on top of the usual spirits and mixers, making it the go-to spot in Nanning for a genuine pint rather than a local lager. The pub opens Wednesday through Monday from 7:00 PM until late and is closed on Tuesdays, with the room busiest on weekend nights when the live bands play and quieter on weeknights, when it functions more as a place to watch a match or shoot a game of pool. There is no cover charge on any night, including for the weekend live-music sets, and no reservation system -- seating is first-come, first-served at the bar, the pool table, or the small table area.
