Xiangmihu Park

Xiangmihu Park sits in the Futian District of Shenzhen, Guangdong, wrapped around a reservoir-turned-lake that gives the park its name (xiangmi means "sesame honey"). Visitors walk a paved lakeside path shaded by banyan and camphor trees, with a series of arched footbridges crossing narrow inlets and a scattering of pavilions used by local residents for tai chi, chess, and card games in the early morning. The park's cherry blossom grove, planted along the northern shore, draws the largest crowds when the trees bloom in late February and early March, and the adjoining Shenzhen Lychee Park and golf course give the area a green, semi-wild character unusual for central Futian. A separate garden section near the southern gate features rockeries, a small waterfall, and seasonal flower beds that rotate through the year. Most visitors spend one to two hours circling the lake on foot or renting a bicycle from a stand near the main entrance; joggers and cyclists tend to arrive at dawn, while families and photographers fill the paths in the late afternoon. The best vantage points for photographs are the arched bridge on the lake's eastern side and the elevated lawn near the rose garden, both of which frame the water against the Futian skyline. Weekday mornings and early evenings are the quietest times; weekends and the cherry blossom season bring the heaviest foot traffic, especially near the northern gate close to Xiangmi Metro Station.
