Because the city stretches roughly 80 km along the Hong Kong border, most visitors rely entirely on the metro and ride-hailing rather than walking or driving between districts. Shenzhen is also the mainland's main gateway to Hong Kong, with three land checkpoints (Luohu, Futian, Shenzhen Bay) and a dedicated high-speed rail link from Futian and Shenzhen North stations to Hong Kong West Kowloon.
