Croc Valley Camp

Croc Valley Camp sits on the Luangwa River bank just outside the boundary of South Luangwa National Park, near Mfuwe, offering one of the most accessible and affordable bases for exploring the park without driving long distances to reach wildlife. The camp's position on the river means animals — including elephants crossing at the bank, hippo pods in the water, and basking crocodiles on the sandbars — are regularly visible from the property itself without entering the park. The camp provides genuine variety of accommodation within one site: brick-and-mortar chalets, canvas safari tents on raised timber platforms, and a self-contained campsite, covering a broad range of budgets while sharing the same pool and riverside facilities. Chalets are built structures with tiled en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and private verandas facing the river or garden. Safari tents on platforms have canvas walls, en-suite bathrooms attached at the rear, and ceiling fans; they offer more atmospheric sleeping with good ventilation. The campsite has its own ablution block and a firepit area. All accommodation types share the swimming pool and elevated riverside bar and restaurant. The main camp deck rises above the river bank and serves as the social centre — the restaurant operates all-day from a menu mixing grills, pasta, and Zambian staples. The bar has a direct river view and typically lights a boma fire after dusk, when hippos and elephants frequently move through. Croc Valley operates its own game-drive vehicles and employs qualified local guides who work the park's network of roads twice daily. Walking safaris, night drives with park permission, and fishing excursions are bookable through camp reception. Park entry fees and meal inclusions vary by rate; all-inclusive packages are available and generally save money over a two- to three-night stay. Mfuwe International Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by road.
