Diyadin Kaplıca Tesisleri (Diyadin Thermal Spa)

Diyadin Kaplıca Tesisleri is eastern Turkey's most accessible geothermal bathing facility, situated in the Diyadin district of Ağrı province at roughly 1,700 metres above sea level. The site draws on a chain of natural hot springs that emerge at temperatures between 40 °C and 65 °C, producing mineral-rich water high in sulphur, calcium bicarbonate, and trace fluoride. These compounds have historically been associated with relief from joint pain, skin conditions, and respiratory complaints, drawing both local visitors seeking therapeutic benefit and regional tourists exploring Ağrı and the Doğubayazıt area.

The main facility comprises a large communal thermal pool, a series of private soaking baths (kaplıca hamamı cabins), and a steam room. The communal pool is gender-separated during standard hours, with mixed family sessions available on request. Private cabin baths are reserved individually and can accommodate one to four persons; they fill directly from the geothermal source and are emptied and cleaned between each session. During summer months (June through August), a seasonal mud-wrap service is offered on the poolside terraces, using mineralised clay sourced locally.

Massage therapy is available through reception on a walk-in or same-day booking basis. Therapists are generalist practitioners rather than certified specialists, and the massage menu is limited to relaxation-focused techniques rather than targeted clinical treatment. The facility is a licensed and regulated balneotherapy site under Turkish health ministry guidelines.

Adjacent to the bathing complex is a small café serving traditional Turkish tea, ayran, and light snacks. Changing rooms, lockers, and towel rental are all available on site. Visitors are advised to bring flip-flops and to allow at least two hours for a complete visit including soaking, steam, and any additional treatment. Pool entry is priced at TRY 150–300 for adults, with private cabin sessions running TRY 300–600 per person. No advance reservation is required for pool entry; cabin baths are first-come, first-served but can fill quickly on weekends and public holidays.
