The Doğubayazıt–Ağrı dolmuş service runs 07:00–18:00; plan returns before 17:00 to avoid being stranded.
Erzurum makes an excellent full-day trip with the Çifte Minareli Medrese, Atatürk House Museum, and Erzurum Castle.
All border crossing at Gürbulak requires a valid Iranian visa; obtain this in advance from an Iranian consulate.
Rental car from Erzurum Airport gives maximum flexibility for exploring multiple Ağrı sites in one trip.
