Ekotepe

Ekotepe is a hillside breakfast and nature retreat in the pine-forested hills above the Cukurova district of Adana, Turkey. Established in 1993, it was conceived as a hobby-garden venue — a concept that combines agricultural smallholding with a hospitality offering — and the model has proved durable: Ekotepe remains one of the most distinctly located breakfast destinations in the city. The pine trees provide a microclimate perceptibly cooler than the Adana urban heat below, and this temperature difference alone draws visitors throughout the summer months when the plain can be stifling.

The breakfast at Ekotepe centres on an organik kahvalti — an organic spread built around produce grown or sourced from the garden and local smallholdings. Koy yumurtasi (farm eggs, typically free-range and notably richer in yolk than mass-produced alternatives), gozleme (flatbread cooked to order on a stone griddle), seasonal vegetables, local jams, honeys and white cheese form the foundation. Bitki caylari — herbal teas brewed from plants grown in the garden — are a specific feature that separates Ekotepe from standard Adana breakfast cafés. The teas rotate according to season and what is flowering or available in the garden at the time of the visit.

Ekotepe operates from eight in the morning to six in the afternoon, giving it a longer window than most Adana breakfast venues and making it viable for a midday meal as well as a morning visit. The hillside setting includes both shaded and open-air seating, and the garden environment encourages extended stays. Reservations are recommended on weekends, when the drive up from central Adana has become a popular family excursion. Pricing runs between TRY 350 and 550 per person (approximately USD 8–12). The overall experience is as much about the natural setting as the food.
