The main lakeside landing, with steamboats, swans and the Alps in the distance; the Zürichsee promenade begins here.
Bürkliplatz is the central lake boat landing and a stage for the city's waterfront life. The paddle steamers and motor boats of the lake shipping company dock here, and the promenade leads east along the Utoquai and west toward Enge. Swans, sailboats and the distant Alps provide subjects, and a weekly flea market runs on Saturdays in season. The light is soft at dawn and warm at sunset, when the sun drops behind the Albis chain. Photographers can shoot from the quay or from the pier, and a tripod is generally tolerated where it doesn't block walkways. The area is free and open at all times.
