Zest Hikkaduwa occupies a prime stretch of Galle Road directly on the beach, approximately 3 kilometres from Hikkaduwa town centre and about 17 kilometres north of Galle. The hotel is positioned on one of the most surf-consistent sections of the southern coast, with coral reef snorkelling accessible from the shoreline at low tide.

The building follows a clean, modern tropical aesthetic — whitewashed concrete, timber accents, and open-plan spaces that maximise sea breezes. Opened within the past decade, it caters primarily to younger independent travellers, surfers, and short-break visitors from Colombo who arrive via the coastal railway or the Southern Expressway.

Rooms range from compact standard doubles to sea-view suites. All are air-conditioned, furnished with simple quality beds and locally produced linens, and equipped with en-suite bathrooms and fast broadband. Upper-floor rooms catch the best ocean views; ground-floor rooms have direct courtyard access.

The rooftop restaurant and bar is the social centrepiece of the property. It serves Sri Lankan staples alongside Western comfort food, and transitions into a bar after sunset with unobstructed views across the Indian Ocean. The breakfast buffet receives consistently strong guest feedback, covering fresh tropical fruit, hoppers, and egg dishes cooked to order.

An infinity pool on the rooftop tier faces the ocean, making it functional for lap swimming in the morning before the crowd assembles. Surfboards can be stored securely, and the front desk coordinates lessons with independent local surf instructors. Service is attentive without being intrusive, and the team is well-equipped to advise on day trips to Galle Fort (17 km) and turtle hatcheries at Kosgoda (28 km).
