Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the world to see blue whales and sperm whales. Tours depart daily from Mirissa and Trincomalee, with sightings near-guaranteed from December to April on the south coast.

Most beaches are public and free to enter. Some hotel beach areas have access restrictions.
