Uga Chena Huts is an all-inclusive eco-luxury resort located inside a private property adjacent to Yala National Park's western sector, along the Tissamaharama–Kirinda coastal corridor in southern Sri Lanka. The park entrance at Palatupana is approximately 8 kilometres from the resort, and the on-site beach gives guests rare direct Indian Ocean frontage within Yala's buffer zone — a combination of jungle, wildlife, and coast found almost nowhere else on the island.
The property was developed by Uga Escapes, a Sri Lankan luxury hospitality group, under a philosophy of low-density, high-impact environmental design. The 30 individual huts are elevated timber cabanas built into the jungle canopy and sand dunes, each with its own private plunge pool, outdoor rain shower, and a deck overlooking either the ocean or the surrounding forest. Interiors combine polished concrete floors, handloom textiles, and bespoke timber furniture with modern cooling systems and high-quality linen.
All stays are full-board, meaning three meals per day, afternoon tea, soft drinks, and minibar are included in the rate. The central restaurant, which opens to a deck above the beach, serves multi-course tasting menus featuring seafood from the coast and produce from the resort's organic garden. The resort's Ayurveda and wellness spa offers traditional Sri Lankan treatments using indigenous plant oils and herbal preparations. Yoga sessions on the beach deck are held at sunrise. Safari departures into Yala depart from the resort entrance, with expert naturalist guides familiar with the park's leopard territories and elephant corridors. Whale watching trips can be arranged from Mirissa harbour (approximately 60 km west) between November and April.
