Mirador de San Nicolás — Alhambra View
The world's most photographed Alhambra view — the pale ochre walls of the Nasrid Palaces set against the snow-capped Sierra Nevada (in winter and spring). The viewpoint is always busy at sunset, but the view is justifiably famous. Golden hour before sunset creates magical warm light on the palace walls.
Court of the Lions (Patio de los Leones) — Alhambra
The most iconic interior of the Alhambra — delicate arcaded galleries of slender columns surrounding the famous 12-lion fountain. Natural overhead light creates constantly changing patterns on the honeycomb stucco ceiling vaults. Arguably the most beautiful architectural space in the world.
Plaza de España
Seville's most spectacular outdoor space — the sweeping semicircular building with 500 metres of ornate azulejo-tiled provincial alcoves, bridges, and a central canal. Symmetrical and grand, it photographs brilliantly at any time of day. The golden late afternoon light on the curved facade is extraordinary.
Caminito del Rey — El Chorro Gorge
The Guadalhorce gorge section of Caminito del Rey provides extraordinary dramatic photography — sheer 300-metre rock walls, turquoise reservoirs visible far below, and the tiny figures of walkers on the pinned walkway create stunning scale and drama.
Ronda — Puente Nuevo Bridge and Gorge
Ronda's Puente Nuevo bridge spanning the 120-metre deep El Tajo gorge is one of Spain's most dramatic landscapes. The old town perched on the cliff edge above the gorge creates a unique combination of architecture and natural drama. Sunset from the parador terrace looks directly down into the gorge.
Mezquita-Catedral — Forest of Columns

The volcanic coastline of Cabo de Gata provides some of Andalusia's most dramatic coastal photography — black volcanic rock formations, crystal turquoise water, pristine deserted beaches, and dramatic cliffs. The contrast of black rock and azure water is extraordinary.
Sacromonte Cave Houses
The whitewashed cave house entrances of Sacromonte on the hillside above the Darro valley provide intimate, characterful photography — potted plants, painted doors, cactus gardens, and colourful tiles contrasting with white walls. Evening flamenco lighting in cave venues is also photogenic.
