Krim, at 1,107 m, is the highest hill on the southern horizon of Ljubljana and the wild end of the Krim-Mokrec ridge that borders the Ljubljana Marsh. The ridge is much quieter than the better-known peaks closer to the city, and the beech woods are among the most intact in Central Slovenia. The summit gives wide views over the marsh, the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and the Julian Alps. Paths are marked with the red-and-white Slovene mountain waymarks, and the surface is a mix of forest track, loose limestone and roots. There are no services on the trail, so walkers should carry all food and water. Autumn colour and clear winter days are the most rewarding times, while summer thunderstorms are the main hazard. Ticks are common in the lower woods.
