Quinta Santa Rita

Quinta Santa Rita is a small garden property located close to Santo António Airport on Príncipe Island, approximately 2 kilometres from the island's main town of Santo António. The site is at the southern approach to the town on a stretch of road passing through secondary vegetation and small agricultural plots, with the main runway perimeter visible from the road nearby. The location makes it the most practical property on Príncipe for travellers arriving on afternoon or evening flights or departing on early-morning services.

The layout follows a cottage-style plan, with accommodation arranged in single-storey rooms set around a central garden and swimming pool rather than stacked in a multi-floor block. The architecture is unpretentious — rendered concrete walls, tiled floors, and functional fittings — but the garden itself is well maintained with flowering tropical shrubs and shade trees that keep common areas pleasant in the midday heat. The overall scale is small, giving the property an atmosphere that is quiet and personal compared to larger island properties.

Rooms are furnished with air conditioning, private en-suite bathrooms, satellite television, and free WiFi. Beds are in standard double or twin configuration and the furniture is modest but functional. Most rooms open directly onto the garden, removing the need for interior corridors. A complimentary airport transfer is standard and is coordinated with flight arrivals — a meaningful convenience on an island where taxi infrastructure is informal.

The on-site restaurant serves breakfast and dinner. The menu draws on local fish caught in Príncipe's surrounding waters, plantain, breadfruit, and other garden produce, prepared in a blend of Santomean and Portuguese styles. Local beers and soft drinks are served at the bar. Lunch is not always available as a full restaurant service; guests planning full-day excursions should carry food or plan to eat in Santo António town.

The tour desk can book guided excursions to Príncipe's main beaches — Praia Banana, Praia Sundy, and Praia Belo Monte — as well as boat trips to marine reserves and visits to the historic cocoa plantations.
