Funchal travel guide: where to stay, what to do, and where to eat in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal.
Funchal's nightlife is small and sociable rather than large-scale. The Zona Velha, especially Rua de Santa Maria, is the main bar district, with poncha bars, vintage and rock bars and sidewalk tables. Rua da Alfândega adds cocktail microbars, and the clubs sit around the Casino da Madeira on Avenida Sá Carneiro, open mainly on Friday and Saturday nights.
