Savoy Palace

Savoy Palace is a large five-star resort hotel at Avenida do Infante 25 in the Lido and São Martinho hotel zone of Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. It is part of the Savoy Signature group and stands on the seafront, with the Lido promenade nearby and the historic centre, the Marina do Funchal and the Mercado dos Lavradores a short taxi ride or longer seafront walk to the east. The hotel is a contemporary landmark with a bold, sculptural design inspired by the island's landscape, large glazed public spaces and a library, and it replaced an earlier Savoy hotel on the site. Accommodation is limited to a small number of categories, namely superior ocean rooms, superior ocean suites and ocean suites, designed around sea-facing balconies. Facilities are extensive: two indoor pools, two outdoor pools, a children's pool, a spa with sauna and steam room, a fitness centre and a garden terrace. Five restaurants, bars and poolside bars provide a broad range of dining, from buffet breakfasts to à la carte evening meals with Madeiran fish, meat and island wines on the menus. The service character is that of a high-end family and couples resort, with a strong emphasis on wellness and design, and staff who can organise excursions, tours and transfers. Rated 4.5 and priced at the top tier, it is among the most expensive hotels in the city. Within walking or short riding distance, visitors can reach the Lido seawater pools, the cable car to Monte and the restaurants of the old town. Madeira Airport is about 20 minutes by car, and public buses along the seafront connect the hotel with the centre. Because the coastline is rocky, guests use pools and sun terraces rather than a sand beach.
