Sandspit Beach

Sandspit Beach lies about 25km west of central Karachi near the Manora Channel in Sindh, and is defined by its wide, flat sandy shoreline rather than rocky headlands. The sand is pale and expansive, and the water, while still bearing the sediment typical of Karachi's coast, is generally calmer here than at the more current-exposed beaches further west. The beach is long and open with no coves, giving unobstructed views across the channel toward Manora Island. The atmosphere is low-key and nature-focused rather than commercial: Sandspit is best known as a nesting ground for olive ridley sea turtles, monitored by WWF-Pakistan roughly from September to February, which draws a mix of casual beachgoers and wildlife watchers rather than a party crowd. Amenities are basic, limited to a few food stalls near the entrance and informal parking, with no lifeguard service and no formal restroom facilities. There is no direct public transit to the beach, so access is by private car or taxi along the roads west of the city. Visitors come chiefly to walk the open sand, watch for turtle nesting activity in season, and enjoy a quieter stretch of coastline than Karachi's central beaches offer, with October to March providing the most comfortable weather.
