Karimabad Inn's location makes it an efficient base for the valley's main attractions. Baltit Fort, the centuries-old seat of the Mirs of Hunza and now a restored UNESCO-recognised heritage site, is a short uphill walk from the main bazaar. Altit Fort, the older of the two fortresses and more recently restored, lies about 3 km south. The Duikar viewpoint, widely regarded as one of the finest sunrise panoramas in the Karakoram, is reachable by local jeep from town. Rakaposhi base camp trekkers typically drive across the valley and start the approach trail from Minapin village, a route the inn can help arrange.
Payment is cash only in Pakistani rupees; no ATMs operate in Karimabad itself, so travellers should carry sufficient funds from Gilgit or Aliabad.
