Oniru Beach

Oniru Beach is an open, sandy stretch of Atlantic-facing coastline within the Oniru Private Estate on Victoria Island, best known as one of Lagos's main venues for large outdoor concerts and festivals rather than a purely leisure beach. The sand is broad and flat, well suited to hosting temporary stages and crowds, and the water is exposed to the open ocean with moderate surf typical of the Lagos coastline. Outside of event periods, the beach has a quieter, more open character, with adjacent beach clubs and lounges offering food, drinks, and seating for visitors who prefer a calmer day by the water. Amenities vary considerably by day: during major events, temporary food and drink stalls, stages, and crowd infrastructure appear, while on ordinary days the beach relies mainly on the neighbouring beach clubs for facilities, since the open sand itself has little permanent infrastructure. Parking is available within the Oniru Estate, though it becomes tight and often requires advance planning during concerts and festivals, which are concentrated particularly around December and January. Located about six kilometres from Lagos Island, Oniru Beach is reached by a short drive or ride-hailing trip into the Oniru Estate area of Victoria Island. Because the estate is private, access on event days is typically ticketed, while general beach access on non-event days is comparatively low-key. The dry season from November to March brings the calmest conditions for a standard beach visit, though this is also the period when the beach sees its heaviest event traffic.
