Hôtel Air Agadez

Hôtel Air Agadez takes its name from the Aïr Mountains — the vast granite massif that rises north of Agadez and constitutes one of the most striking landscapes in the Sahara — and sits near the Grande Mosquée de l'Agadez in the historic heart of the city. The building uses the traditional Agadez architectural vocabulary: thick earthen walls that limit heat gain, small high-set windows, and a rooftop terrace finished with woven reed screens and low seating. From the rooftop, the earthen minaret of the Grande Mosquée is visible above the surrounding old-town roofline, and the sunsets over the Saharan horizon beyond the city walls are consistently photogenic in the cooler months. Guest rooms are mid-range in finish — air-conditioned, en-suite, with warm-toned plasterwork and simple wooden furniture — without the ornate Tuareg detailing of the more expensive properties nearby. A ground-floor restaurant serves continental and Nigerien breakfasts and a rotating lunch and dinner menu built around grilled meats, rice dishes with groundnut sauces, and fresh salads.
