Auberge Tellit occupies a traditional compound in Agadez's historic Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has served as a trans-Saharan trade crossroads since the 15th century. The guesthouse sits within walking distance of the Sultan's Palace and the towering mud-brick minaret of the Grande Mosque — the tallest mudbrick minaret in the world — placing guests at the cultural and architectural centre of the Aïr region.

The property reflects the vernacular mud-brick construction of the Hausa-Tuareg urban tradition, built around a shaded central courtyard that provides natural cooling and a communal gathering space where travellers exchange desert itinerary information. Rooms range from fan-cooled basics to air-conditioned private rooms; both shared and en-suite bathroom configurations are available. Furnishings are simple and functional, suited to the guesthouse's primary clientele of overlanders, trekkers, and independent travellers on the trans-Saharan route.

Meals are prepared on-site and served communally, drawing on Nigerien staples: rice and meat stews, millet-based dishes, and fresh bread. The informal dining setup reinforces the social atmosphere that makes the property useful as a staging point for multi-person expedition groups.

The guesthouse's principal draw for adventure travellers is its established network of Tuareg guides and camel outfitters. Staff can organise multi-day excursions into the Ténéré Desert, the Aïr Mountains, and to the prehistoric rock-art sites at Dabous. Auberge Tellit functions primarily as an expedition base camp rather than a leisure hotel: service is informal, experience-focused, and well-versed in the practicalities of Saharan travel. There is no pool, spa, or fitness facility. The property is suitable for independent travellers who can manage rugged conditions and want direct access to Agadez's desert tourism infrastructure.
