The Tangier corniche is the long seafront promenade running along the Bay of Tangier from the port towards Cape Malabata, with a wide sandy city beach, the Plage Municipale, beside the Avenue Mohammed VI. Cafes, seafood restaurants and beach clubs line the road, and the promenade fills with families and joggers in the evening. The beach is free and shallow, and lifeguarded sections appear in summer. The Tangier Marina and the port-front gardens at the western end add walking space and photo points. From the promenade the Spanish coast is visible on clear days. A walk from the port to the end of the beach takes about 40 minutes and passes several seafood grills serving fish by the kilo.
