Roughly 90 artisan families staff about 95 stalls, most producing directly rather than reselling, so the ratio of authentic maker-sold work to generic tourist trinkets is high compared with a mixed souvenir bazaar. Goods differ from typical souvenir shopping in that pieces are hand-built and hand-painted on site or in nearby family workshops, ranging from small figurines to sculptures over a meter tall, alongside general pottery, leatherwork, glass, and basketry from the same region. Prices are largely fixed by piece size and detail, though modest bargaining on larger sculptures is tolerated, especially for cash purchases; card acceptance is inconsistent across individual family stalls, so cash is the more reliable payment method. The center is laid out as rows of adjoining stalls rather than an enclosed mall, with the busiest corners near the main entrance where the largest and most photogenic Árbol de la Vida pieces are displayed; quieter aisles toward the back hold smaller workshops selling leather goods and glasswork. Crowds are moderate and steady rather than overwhelming, heavier on weekends and around Día de Muertos and Christmas when demand for decorative pieces rises. On-site food options are limited to a handful of snack stands rather than a dedicated food court, so visitors often combine a stop here with a meal in central Metepec afterward.
