La Jolla Beach, Punta Banda

La Jolla Beach sits on the sheltered inside shore of the Punta Banda peninsula, about 35 minutes southwest of Ensenada on the road toward La Bufadora. Unlike the open-ocean beaches along the Pacific side of the peninsula, this stretch faces into Bahia de Todos Santos, which keeps the water calm enough for kayaking and casual swimming even when the outer coast is rough. The shoreline is a mix of sand and pebble, backed by a long-running campground and RV park that has made the beach a traditional base for families and groups spending a weekend or longer on the water. A boat launch serves small fishing craft and kayaks, and the calm bay supports both casual paddling and small-boat fishing trips. Amenities include toilets and showers for campers, a small on-site store for basics, and enough flat ground for tents and RVs along the shore. Because of its position on the peninsula, La Jolla Beach also serves as a convenient overnight base for visiting the tide pools and blowhole at La Bufadora, a short further drive along the same road. Access is via Highway 23 through the town of Maneadero, with a day-use fee of around MXN 80 for non-campers. The beach's calm water and camping infrastructure make it popular with returning visitors who treat it as a multi-day stay rather than a single afternoon stop, and weekends from spring through autumn bring a steady stream of both tent campers and RVs. The best conditions for water activities run from April through October, when the bay is calmest and warmest.
