Gegege Chaya

Gegege Chaya is a yokai-themed cafe on Mizuki Shigeru Road in Sakaiminato City, the hometown of manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, creator of the GeGeGe no Kitaro yokai series that the street's statues and shops celebrate. The cafe's menu leans into that theming with character-shaped snacks, most notably a bun shaped like the character Medama Oyaji, alongside Kitaro-branded bread and an ittan-momen-yaki griddle cake named after another yokai character from the series. The space is a small, casual walk-up cafe geared toward tourists browsing the yokai statues along the road, with quick service, limited seating, and a bright, novelty-shop atmosphere rather than a sit-down dining experience.
