Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura is a recreated Edo-period town in Karakura, Nikko, Tochigi, where the ninja experience combines costumed street performances, a ninja training zone, and the seasonal "Shadow and Steel" stunt show performed by professional stage actors rather than an outdoor adventure activity, so no special fitness or prior skill is needed and the park suits all ages including small children. Visitors can rent samurai, ninja, or oiran costumes on-site for an additional fee and walk the recreated town's streets, watch sword and ninja demonstrations, and try hands-on activities like shuriken (throwing star) practice in a dedicated attraction. Staff performers and ride operators handle any equipment involved in demonstrations, and the park does not require guests to handle real weapons; throwing-star activities use blunted, park-provided equipment under staff supervision. The "Shadow and Steel" ninja stunt show runs for about ten minutes on selected weekend dates from late July through August and involves choreographed stunts performed by trained cast members, with the audience seated at a safe distance in a dedicated show area. The park is open year-round with a mix of indoor and outdoor attractions, so bad weather affects some outdoor demonstrations but rarely closes the park entirely; spring and autumn bring the most comfortable temperatures for a full day of walking between attractions, while summer can be hot and humid and winter cold, though heated indoor sections remain accessible. A half day covers the main streets and a few paid attractions, while a full day allows time for the ninja show, costume rental, and multiple hands-on activities.
